Last month, Faculty of Music teachers attended the Annual Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) High Scorers’ Concert which featured the top 35 performing students of the exam sessions in June, 2016. This was a great opportunity for our teachers to explore the many aspects of ABRSM, which will be coming to SMPAA next term, and to network with other fellow teachers who share their expertise in the field of music education.

ABRSM is the UK’s largest music education body, one of its largest music publishers and one of the world’s leading provider of music exams, offering assessments to more than 700,000 candidates in 93 countries every year. The basis of ABRSM’s exams motivates students to become well rounded  musicians with a range of interlocking skills – in performance, technique, notation, and listening and musical perception – as well as knowledge, understanding and creativity.
