SMPAA Annual Arts Scholarship

The SMPAA Annual ARTS Scholarship is created to support the artistic studies of four SMPAA students (two in music and two in dance) who demonstrate need and talent for one year at full tuition. The scholarships will cover both the practical lessons and musicianship classes for the music student or the classes in one genre of dance for dance students. 

The scholarships are good for one year and must be applied for each year. A student may be awarded a scholarship multiple times if he or she qualifies. The scholarships are awarded at the beginning of SMPAA term one each year.

The scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria:

  1. Strong artistic potential
  2. Significant financial need
  3. Strong academic performance in regular school
  4. Citizenship and community involvement
  5. Potential as a future music or dance performer or educator 

Applications will be accepted from students who have studied at SMPAA for at least three terms and who are at least 10.0 years old up to 18.0 years old. The application will include:

  1. A one-page written recommendation from at least one of the student’s present SMPAA teachers
  2. An interview with the student by the Scholarship Committee
  3. An interview with the student’s parents by the Scholarship Committee
  4. An official transcript of the student’s grades in regular school for the two previous years
  5. All information that the family feels is important to give the Scholarship Committee the most complete picture of their financial circumstances

Members of the music committee and the dance committee will be: 

For Music:

  1. The Founder of SMPAA
  2. The Director of SMPAA
  3. The Director of Music at SMPAA 
  4. The Head of Music at SMPAA
  5. Academy Manager at SMPAA

For Dance:

  1. The Founder of SMPAA
  2. The Director of SMPAA
  3. The Director of Dance at SMPAA
  4. The Head of Dance at SMPAA
  5. Academy Manager at SMPAA

Any student 10.0 up to 18.0 years old may apply for a scholarship. The completed application and supporting documents must be delivered electronically to email scholarship@smpaa.edu.vn along with one hard copy to Ms Thư Trần – assistant of the Director of SMPAA no later than 5:00PM of the Monday, Feb 10, 2020 (Monday of week 8 of the third term). 

The committees will meet and choose the recipients by 5:00PM on the Sunday of week 12 of the third term. Winners will be announced during week 13 of the third term. The scholarships will go into effect for one year on the first day of the first term each year. There may be as many as four scholarships awarded each year. It is possible that no scholarship will be awarded. The Scholarship Committee will not enter into individual correspondence with a student either before or after a decision has been made. Decisions by the Scholarship Committee are final and not open to appeal.
