Dance Programmes
The SMPAA Dance Curriculum is based on the curricula of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and/or the National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD), and focuses on:
- Developing strong technique through structured lessons
- Encouraging self expression, confidence and self awareness
- Facilitating a creative learning environment
- Enhancing group work and socialization within class
Extra Programme
Little LYRICIST Dance Group
Little LYRICÍST is a dance programme for young dancers from 8 - 12 years of age. Students are auditioned and accepted into this program based on high marks on their dance exams, improved level of skills and techniques and their passion for dance. This program provides a comprehensive curriculum that is aligned with ISTD standards. Members of the Little LYRICÍST programme have the opportunity to learn a variety of dance styles with a emphasis on Commercial Hip-Hop, perform within the community to enhance their experience and meet special guest choreographers/instructors.

Founded in 1904, The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is one of the world’s leading dance examination boards. From classical ballet to commercial hip hop, ISTD covers the full spectrum of dance genres. For more than 110 years, ISTD has provided training for dance teachers and examiners, enabling them to prepare students for examinations, develop new techniques and celebrate the joy of dance.
SMPAA is the first educational institution in Vietnam that applies the ISTD syllabus, taught by ISTD certified dance teachers.
Founded in 1906, The National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD) is one of the world’s leading international dance examination boards. NATD promotes the enjoyment and knowledge of a variety of dance genres through their teachers' passion and commitment to the art form. It offers an extensive range of dance forms with a comprehensive range of carefully developed graded syllabi for the amateur and the professional. NATD is the only certificate awarding organisation in the world to offer a graded syllabus in contemporary dance, which is officially recognised in England by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation – OFQUAL.
